    Description

Lionel No. 9858, Curtiss Butterfinger Reefer, Orange w/ Blue Roof, ca. 1974
Cheerful orange boxcar with Curtiss logo, candy bar pics, and crisp blue lettering matching the roof.  Great detailing, doors, trucks and painting all intact.
Check my other auctions so you can run it with the Tootsie Roll, Life Saver and Baby Ruth cars for the sweetest train ever!
Original box included, normal aging and is missing an end flap, as shown in the pictures, otherwise intact. Lionel boxes of the 1970s
    and
80s were a bit flimsier because of the big plastic windows, and show wear and tear a bit more, but are also covered with drawings and/or photos of other trains and accessories that were for sale at the time.
This is from my father's collection. A lifelong inhabitant of New York City and an avid Lionel collector since childhood, he kept his collection in excellent shape, in custom-built storage cases and in the original packaging as often as possible. Of course, there is some normal wear and tear but if a piece or its packaging has any damage beyond that, I will include it in the description and/or pictures.
Our family has selected our favorite pieces and would like to see that the rest go to people or places that will also appreciate them. We have many pieces of Lionel rolling stock, buildings, and equipment as well as various books and ephemera from a happy long life as a railfan.
There are hundreds of pieces and it will take several months to list them all, so keep an eye on my account to see if a piece you'd like is listed. We have items from the 1930s to the early 2000s. Please let me know if you have any questions.
I will be happy to combine items to reduce shipping costs if you buy more than one item. Please don't pay until you've bought all the items you'd like to be sent at once so I can combine the invoice and calculate the shipping.
